This is a brand new instrument, a new model from Mike Vanden, similar to the Simon Mayor model but with a standard 352mm scale length (the SM has 360mm). The sound is very responsive, with great depth of tone, a strong bass, complex mid range, and sweet trebles. Visually the instrument is simple but stunning. Highly figured maple, European spruce and Macasser ebony, are combined with quilted maple bindings, red lines and veneers. A natural finish highlights the contrasting timbers. The Macasser ebony headstock veneer is contoured in two dimensions, to give a graceful tapering peghead design.

Vintage style tuner bushings sit below the veneer surface, and the art nouveau inspired inlay is cut from mother of pearl and reconstituted coral.
