Mandolinquents Quintet – tech spec

Sound

Because the violoncello is considerably louder than the mandolin family instruments, we prefer to play with PA even in good acoustics, simply to balance the sound. Within the UK, we can provide our own small, high quality system, suitable for all but very large venues.

Using a house system

If a house system is available, the artists can provide their own mics and compact mixer providing output to the house system by XLR or standard jack.

Alternatively, if a house PA is used, requirements are: 4 instrument mics, 4 vocal mics, the mandobass has a DI. We sit to play, so if possible please provide low level mic stands apart from one at full height for Hilary James’ vocal mic (she stands to sing).

Please arrange the chairs in a gentle semi-circle at centre front of stage.

Line up from stage left to right:
Florence Petit (violoncello, mandocello)
Elias Sibley (guitar, mandolin)
Simon Mayor (mandolin, guitar, violin, vocals)
Richard Collins (mandolin, mandola, banjo, guitar vocals)
Hilary James (mandobass, vocals)

Lighting

Simple requirements: warm and static please.

Also

Five chairs without arms please.
